Clean Up Britain

Clean Up Britain is the only national organisation dedicated exclusively to tackling the growing epidemic of littering and fly‑tipping across the UK.

With an unwavering commitment to protecting our environment, the not‑for‑profit leads the charge in reshaping public attitudes, influencing government policy, and driving sustainable behaviour change.

Through innovative campaigns, partnerships with local authorities, and collaboration with communities, Clean Up Britain works to change how people think about waste — and more importantly, how they act.

The organisation’s mission extends beyond awareness; it’s about transforming the relationship between the public, business, and the natural environment for generations to come.

To support its expanding reach and influence, the charity needed a modern, high‑performing digital platform that could communicate its message powerfully and provide a central hub for engagement, education, and advocacy.

With multiple audience types — from policymakers and sponsors to schools, local councils, and environmentally‑conscious individuals — the new website had to bring everyone together around one unified cause: making Britain cleaner, greener, and prouder.

The Task at Hand.

The Task at Hand.

Working within a clear and passionate brand vision, Web Wonderland was tasked with a complete overhaul of Clean Up Britain's digital presence.

The existing site had served its purpose but lacked the clarity, energy, and modern polish needed to take its campaigns to the next level. Our goal was to build a site that could:

  • Communicate the scale of the problem and the urgency for action
  • Showcase real-world impact through case studies and partnerships
  • Provide accessible, engaging content for different audiences
  • Serve as a dynamic hub for news, updates, and thought leadership

The site needed to speak to a wide spectrum of visitors — from government departments and corporate sponsors to community groups and individual volunteers — all with different motivations and levels of knowledge.

This was a deeply meaningful project. Clean Up Britain's work is about more than litter; it's about responsibility, pride, and collective impact. Our responsibility was to design and build a site that reflected that mission and inspired visitors to take part.

What We Did.

What We Did.

Although the site's functionality remained straightforward, the focus was on creating a visually bold and emotionally engaging experience.

The homepage was designed to immediately grab attention, using powerful imagery, subtle animation, and background video to convey both the urgency of the issue and the hope of collective action.

We restructured the site around three key goals:

  • Inform: clearly explain the environmental and social challenges of littering and fly-tipping.
  • Inspire: highlight initiatives, success stories, and partnerships.
  • Involve: drive action, donations, and campaign sign-ups with clear, repeated CTAs.

Navigation was streamlined so researchers, journalists, and volunteers could find what they need fast. The layout is fully responsive, delivering equal impact on mobile and desktop.

We placed special emphasis on storytelling — weaving mission, values, and real-world results into each page. Social integration, an active news and media hub, and content-rich visuals work together to tell a story of progress and pride.

Behind the experience sits a highly optimised WordPress framework for speed, security, and easy maintenance.

The Result.

The Result.

The outcome is a fast, impactful, and modern website that stands as a true reflection of Clean Up Britain's purpose and professionalism. It balances emotional engagement with practical clarity, delivering a space that educates, inspires, and converts — whether that's driving donations, encouraging volunteers, or influencing policy discussions. Government departments, corporate partners, and citizens can now explore the organisation's work, learn how to get involved, and see the tangible impact of campaigns. This wasn't just about building a website; it was about building a digital voice for an organisation tackling one of the UK's most persistent environmental challenges. The new platform amplifies the message and empowers more people to join the movement toward a cleaner, more sustainable Britain.

Working with WebWonderland has been brilliant. They are professional, responsive and turn out high quality work, coming to the table with clever design and functionality ideas and solutions which really elevate the finished product. Would highly recommend!
