Overview

This plugin ("Software") is licensed under the GPL for its source code and includes access to hosted services ("Hosted Service") provided by Web Wonderland, including:

• a hosted image optimisation API (for WebP/AVIF generation), and
• a hosted AI captioning service (for Smart Alt & Titles).

By using this Software and Hosted Service, you agree to these terms.

The WordPress plugin itself remains fully usable with local-only processing. Hosted features are optional and require a valid Lite, Pro or Unlimited API Key.

Hosted Image Optimisation & Captioning

When you use features backed by the Hosted Service (API/cloud mode and/or Smart Alt & Titles), the plugin may:

• send an image URL or a signed/binary URL so the service can fetch the image,
• request generation of WebP/AVIF variants for multiple WordPress sizes, and/or
• send an image URL to an AI captioning provider (via Web Wonderland) to generate captions, alt text and titles.

For quota and abuse control, minimal metadata may be transmitted to Web Wonderland's metering backend, such as:

• licence key,
• anonymous instance or installation ID,
• attachment ID and/or job ID,
• basic technical data (e.g. plugin version, format/size requested).

Use of the captioning component is additionally subject to the AI provider's own terms and privacy policy.

Local vs Hosted Processing

Local processing (on your own server)

When configured in local mode, WebP/AVIF generation is carried out entirely on your own server (subject to your PHP/Imagick/GD support). Local optimisation is not metered by Web Wonderland and is not limited by the Hosted Service quotas below.

Hosted processing (Web Wonderland APIs)

When you switch to API/hosted mode for optimisation, or use Smart Alt & Titles, those specific operations are handled by Web Wonderland's Hosted Service and are subject to the quotas described below. These quotas apply only to hosted/API work, not to any optimisation performed locally on your server.

You can use the plugin in local-only mode without sending images to Web Wonderland's optimisation API.

Quotas & Plans

Quotas below describe Hosted Service usage, not local/server-side processing.

• Quotas reset monthly and do not roll over.
• "Fair use" means we may apply soft limits or rate limits to protect service stability, even on Pro and Unlimited plans.
• Abuse or attempts to bypass quota enforcement (for example, tampering with licence checks, spoofing IDs, or automated mass hammering) may result in suspension or throttling.

Your previously generated WebP/AVIF files and saved captions remain on your server regardless of licence status.

Metering

We record anonymised usage data strictly necessary to:

• enforce subscription limits and quotas,
• detect abuse and keep the Hosted Service stable,
• understand aggregate load and plan capacity.

We do not permanently store your images. Any temporary storage in the Hosted Service or AI provider is only for the time needed to process and deliver the result.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Hosted Service to process:

• illegal content,
• abusive, harassing or hateful content,
• content that infringes third-party intellectual property,
• content used for spam or automated abuse.

We may restrict or terminate access to the Hosted Service where we detect abuse, security risks, or violation of these terms, without affecting your rights to the GPL-licensed plugin code itself.

Availability

The Hosted Service (optimisation API and AI captioning) depends on third-party infrastructure and networks. While we aim for high uptime, we:

• do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service, and
• are not responsible for outages or degradation outside our reasonable control.

You can always switch back to local-only optimisation if the Hosted Service is unavailable.

Data Handling

• No long-term retention of your images by Web Wonderland beyond what is technically necessary to process jobs.
• The AI captioning provider receives your image only for the purpose of generating captions/alt text.
• We maintain operational usage counts, log data and error traces only as needed for metering, abuse prevention and debugging.

Model & Provider Changes

We may:

• change hosted providers or AI models,
• adjust internal processing workflows,
• update rate limits or technical caps,

where necessary to maintain functionality, performance, security and legal compliance. We will aim to preserve equivalent or better end-user functionality for each plan.

GPL Notice

The plugin source code is licensed under GPL-2.0 or later.

Hosted services (optimisation API, AI captioning, api/metering endpoints) are not part of the GPL-licensed software and are covered by these Hosted Service terms. Your licence to use the plugin under the GPL remains independent of any subscription to hosted services.
