Overview
Web Wonderland SEO Image Optimiser (the "Plugin") processes images within your WordPress site to:
- Generate modern formats (WebP/AVIF)
- Optionally offload optimisations to a cloud/API worker
- Optionally generate SEO metadata (alt text and titles) using AI
Most processing can run locally on your own server. Cloud/API and AI features are optional and require a valid API Key (Lite, Pro or Unlimited).
Data We Process (Locally)

The Plugin keeps a backup of originals as <filename>.sio-orig and can restore on demand.
External Processing (Optional)
External calls only happen if you enable cloud/API optimisation and/or AI Smart Alt & Captions in the settings.
1. Cloud Image Optimisation API (WebP/AVIF)
If you enable cloud/API processing, the Plugin may send:

- No visitor personal data is intentionally sent as part of these requests.
- Images are processed temporarily by Web Wonderland's infrastructure to generate WebP/AVIF files, then stored back on your own server.
- The API may keep short-lived logs for abuse detection and debugging.
You can switch back to local-only processing at any time in the plugin settings.
2. AI Smart Alt & Captions
If you enable AI Smart Alt & Captions, the Plugin will send:

- No personal user data is intentionally collected by the Plugin.
- Content is processed by the AI captioning provider subject to their own privacy policy.
- Requests to Web Wonderland API Server only include the API Key, plugin version and a randomly generated instance/installation ID.
Retention
- The Plugin does not permanently store your images off-site.
- WebP/AVIF versions and approved alt text reside only within your WordPress Media Library/uploads.
- Usage counters (e.g., caption credits, cloud/API usage) are stored as WordPress options.
- Web Wonderland's APIs may keep short-lived technical logs for abuse prevention and debugging.
Your Choices
Processing mode
You can choose between local-only optimisation and cloud/API optimisation in the settings.
AI features
Smart Alt & Captions are optional and only run when you explicitly use them. You can disable AI features entirely in the plugin settings.
Editing / deletion
You can edit or delete generated alt text and titles in the Media Library at any time.
Debug logging
You can turn off debug logging to avoid writing to error_log or custom logs.
GDPR / CCPA
The Plugin itself does not profile visitors nor set cookies.
If you enable:
- Cloud/API image optimisation, disclose that some images may be sent to Web Wonderland's optimisation API for processing.
- AI captioning, disclose that some images may be sent to a third-party AI captioning service (e.g. Replicate.com) via Web Wonderland's proxy.
Site owners are responsible for ensuring their site-wide privacy policy reflects this behaviour and lists relevant third parties.
